Five-star event rider and British Eventing coach Jo Rimmer suffered a devastating rotational fall in March 2023 that resulted in multiple fractures and internal organ damage.
Jo’s injuries included fractures to her neck, spine, ribs and pelvis, as well as grade-five liver damage. That meant she faced a long and gruelling road to recovery. While she was eager to regain strength, Jo wasn’t sure if she would ever ride again. She believed there were younger riders more in need of support but, with a little bit of encouragement, she took the step to contact our team.
Through the British Eventing Support Trust, Jo gained access to specialist rehabilitation at Oaksey House, where physiotherapists created a structured recovery plan. She attended multiple sessions focused on strength-building and mobility and undertook extensive ‘homework’ to continue her progress between visits.
Thanks to expert care and her own determination, Jo is now back in the saddle and coaching again. She credits the help she received from the British Eventing Support Trust for playing a crucial role in her recovery.
“I never would have reached out for help without my daughter’s encouragement, but I am so glad I did. The support I received made all the difference.”
