Jessica’s story: Supporting a rapid return to competition

Professional rider Jessica Campbell, who competes up to Advanced/3* level and is a BHSI, suffered a serious setback in May 2023 when a fall from a young horse at home resulted in a broken and displaced collarbone.

As a self-employed professional rider, Jessica felt immense pressure to recover quickly and return to competition. The timing of the injury, in the middle of the season, meant she faced not only physical challenges but also concerns about her career and business.

With support from our team Jessica was able to access regular physiotherapy, which played a crucial role in her recovery. The consistent treatment helped her regain strength and mobility much faster than expected, ensuring she could return to riding as soon as possible.

Thanks to the expert rehabilitation provided through British Eventing Support Trust, Jessica was back in the saddle and competing in less than a month. She remains incredibly grateful for the support that allowed her to recover swiftly and continue her career without prolonged disruption.

“The wonderful team at British Eventing Support Trust enabled me to have regular access to a physio who helped me to be back in the saddle after only three weeks and eventing again in four.”
