Having competed up to two-star level on home-produced horses, Abbie Burbidge was no stranger to hard work and determination. But after a serious fall from a young horse, she found herself struggling with both physical recovery and the mental challenge of returning to competition.
When her injury meant that she would need surgery, Abbie knew she needed a structured rehabilitation plan to regain her strength and confidence. Without professional help and guidance, she feared she might never return to competing at her previous level.
Shortly after her surgery, Abbie reached out to the British Eventing Support Trust. Our team helped her devise a tailored rehabilitation plan, providing access to physiotherapy and expert advice. The support extended beyond physical recovery, offering guidance on how to mentally and strategically approach her return to eventing.
With the structured rehab plan in place, Abbie was able to rebuild her strength and return to competition. She credits the British Eventing Support Trust for helping her regain not only her physical fitness but also the confidence to get back in the saddle.
“I know for a fact that without their help, I would not be competing at the same level as I was last year. Their support is invaluable to any BE competing member facing injury or needing mental health support.”
