What’s on this September for the British Eventing Support Trust?

September’s eventing calendar is always full of highlights, and this year it brings a flurry of activity for us here at the British Eventing Support Trust. With fundraising events at the Defender Burghley Horse Trials and Cornbury House Horse Trials and exciting news from the European Championships at Blenheim Palace, it’s a month that will shine a spotlight on the incredible support we receive from our sport and its community. In this blog we’re taking a look at what’s coming up next month, so let’s get started:

A ‘sparkling’ start to Burghley…

We’re thrilled to be joining forces with Pol Roger for a special afternoon at this year’s Defender Burghley Horse Trials. Taking place from 4.30pm on Thursday 4th of September at the Pol Roger marquee, the event will help mark the start of Burghley in style and raise vital funds for our work supporting British Eventing competing members.

Our guests will have the opportunity to rub shoulders with our team, other supporters and eventing fans as well as top riders and eventing personalities in a relaxed and sociable setting. Tickets are a minimum donation of £20 and include a complimentary glass of Pol Roger Brut

Réserve. If that all sounds good, make sure you buy your ticket soon as we’re sure this is set to be a popular and memorable event.

…Then a coursewalk with a cause

Then, on Friday 5th of September, we’ll be hosting a charity coursewalk led by international event rider Alex Bragg around Burghley’s iconic 5* track. Alex will be joined, subject to availability, by Assistant Course Designer Adrian Ditcham, and the duo will be offering attendees unmissable insight into the challenges and questions posed by this world-class course – plus plenty of laughs along the way!

Tickets are available for a minimum donation of £20 (though they are nearly sold out!), with all proceeds supporting our work with British Eventing competing members. It’s a fantastic opportunity to experience Burghley from a new perspective, while helping to make a real difference to our sport behind the scenes.

Welcome party and Charity of the Year at Cornbury House Horse Trials

We’re proud to be returning as one of the official Charity Partners at Cornbury House Horse Trials, which takes place from the 10th to the 14th of September at Cornbury Park near Charlbury in Oxfordshire.

To celebrate, we’re inviting supporters to join us for a Welcome Party at The Wychwood Inn (the onsite social hub of the event!) on Thursday 11th of September from 7:00pm. Tickets cost £20 and include paella (with a vegetarian option), and a drink of your choice from either a glass of Mirabeau Rosé, Hawkstone Lager, a Lost Explorer Margarita or an Elderflower Presse. The event will also feature a live recording of The Eventing Weekly Podcast, with Saffron Cresswell and special guests.

Funds raised on the night will support our ongoing work, including confidential mental health support, assistance for injured riders and help for those facing financial hardship during recovery. Our fence at the European Eventing Championships

Looking ahead to the European Eventing Championships at Blenheim Palace, we’re honoured that the organisers have generously gifted us a fence on the cross-country course. The fence is called the BE Support Trust Healing Garden, and we’re counting down the days until we can share the design with you.

The Championships take place from the 18th to the 21st of September and will run alongside the prestigious FEI Eventing 8 and 9 year-old class. We can’t wait to see the Healing Garden fence in person that weekend and featuring in photos and videos of top riders when they take it on. It’s a wonderful way to share our message of support and strength with riders and spectators alike.

Thank you

September is set to be a milestone month for the British Eventing Support Trust, and none of it would be possible without you. We want to say a big thank you to everyone attending our events, spreading the word and supporting our mission to help event riders when they need us most.
